Robert Joseph Cousy is a retired American professional basketball player. Cousy played defense with the Boston Celtics from 1950 to 1963, briefly with the Cincinnati Royals during the 1969–70 season.
As a child, he made his varsity team in high school and then earned scholarships to the College of the Holy Cross, where he led the Crusaders to positions in the 1948 NCAA and NCAA tournaments.
In 1950, he won top honors NCAA All-USA in three seasons. Cousy was first selected by the Tri-Cities Blackhawks as the third pick in the first round of the 1950s NBA draft.
